2010 in a nutshell ...

Hello all ... Happy New Year. It's been about two and a half years since my last update. So ... new years resolution for me ... try to blog.

A bit to catch up:

July 2010 -

We say "good bye" to Dia Ma (Sum family matriarch). We know she is happy in heaven with Uncle Lee Wing, Aunt Laine, Auntie Wally, and lots of other relatives (what a party they must be having).

Aug 2010 -

The kids threw us a surprise 60th birthday party ... and boy, were we surprised. Tricky tricky. It was a great party and we were happy to see all our family and friends there (some friends we hadn't seen in over 40 years). Big thanks to Dennis, Michelle, Brandon, Jenny, and Jaden for all the planning. It must have been hard to plan without saying too much to Jaden since he tells ALL.

Aug 2010 -

We went on a four-generation Alaska cruise with the whole "Low" family. We had a great time. The boys even wore tuxedos on formal night (including Jaden) ... now that was a BIG accomplishment. My mom said it was the BEST cruise she has ever been on (and they cruise a LOT).

December 2010 -

The Fong family (Edwin, Sharon, Dennis, Brandon, Michelle, Jaden, and Jenny) went on a Disney cruise and then spent a week at Disney World. Now ... who would have thought we would have to go to Target to buy snow clothes because it was only like 32 degrees???? This is in Orlando, but it was FREEZING. Everyone had a great time and Dennis' friend Kevin and his little boy joined us for a couple of days at Disney World.

Visit to New Hampshire for Hui-Hui's birthday

Has it really been six months since I posted to this blog??? Oh my.

ok ... let's play catch-up.

Here's s Smilebox of our visit to Cindy's house for Hui-Hui's 4th birthday party. As usual, we missed the "fall colors" by about a week. One of these days, we'll have to go back earlier (maybe Hui-Hui can have her birthday party two weeks early). We had a great time at Cindy's. Hui-Hui (and Uncle Edwin too) kept us constantly entertained. We spent the week laughing and shopping.

It was a great mini-vacation.

Edwin & Sharon go on an Alaska cruise

Edwin & I went on our first 7-day cruise to Alaska. It was simply amazing. Here is a short slide show of some of the pictures we took. Enjoy ...

Edwin liked the buffet the best. I think he just liked the desserts. He had a great time trying all the different kinds of food and desserts. I thought it was fun to have someone wait on you and put your napkin in your lap. Either way, the food on the cruise was very good. We were NOT able to find ice cream at 11:00 p.m. though (my only complaint).

Edwin went on the Zip line at Icy Strait Point. It was billed as the longest zip line. Edwin took a bus up to the top of the mountain where it was FREEZING. He was wearing two coats and he was still cold. They were told to stay together on the trail down to the zip lines as there were bears in the area ... wonderful. Edwin enjoyed the zip line as it was his first time. We found these cute little stuffed eagles and you could have put in a salmon can and mailed back home, so we got an eagle for both Jaden and Hui-Hui.

We stopped at Skagway and Juneau. We took the White Pass and Yukon train to the top of the mountain. We even found a book for Jaden titled "Grandma and Grandpa go on the White Pass and Yukon train", so of course we bought it. In Juneau we went to the fish hatchery and went to the Glacier Visitors Center. Edwin walked toward the glacier (while I tried to find Jaden the perfect souvenir) and saw wild mountain goats ... pretty cool. Of course we went shopping at all the ports.

There was so much to do on the ship. I took a couple of scrapbooking classes. We also played Bingo and watched a man behind us win a 7-day cruise and another lady win a jackpot of over $4,000.00 -- that was very exciting. Edwin went to the gym and used the treadmill (he saw a whale tail in front of him -- the whale's tail just came out of the water). We played goofy golf and Edwin did the rock climbing thing. Here's a quick video of that.

Can't wait until we go again. This should be happening in about a year since it looks like the Low Family will be taking a cruise in August 2010. It will be a great time.

Por-Por joins Goong-Goong in heaven

Edwin's mom passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 19, 2009. Here is the slide show that we put together for her service. I got a little carried away while scanning old pictures (there were so many to choose from) - it's about 15 minutes long, so feel free to stop it whenever you have seen enough.

She will be missed by all but we are glad that they are together again.

FEBRUARY 2009 SNOW TRIP

The whole family went up to Lake Tahoe for a couple of days for our annual "Snow trip". There wasn't as much snow as there was last year but we had fun. Kenji and Melo joined us for the weekend so Jennifer, Dennis, Kenji, and Melo went to Diamond Peak for snowboarding on Friday. Michelle, Brandon, and Jaden came up on Saturday. We went to saucer hill on Monday and it actually snowed while we were there. We have pictures of Jaden on the sled and sitting in the snow. We "borrowed" someone's snowman and took pictures with it (hahaha) - usually the kids make their snow creations but there wasn't enough snow at the resort to do that. On Tuesday, Michelle, Brandon, Edwin, and Jenny went to Heavenly to snowboard (Edwin went skiing). Jaden stayed with his Por-Por and they had fun playing at the resort. As usual, we had a great time. Check out the following pictures of our trip.
